In the wave of globalization, container houses, with their flexible customization, environmental friendliness, and convenience, have become a preferred choice for overseas clients seeking to create unique living spaces. In recent years, the demand for "lightweight, personalized housing" in the European vacation real estate market has continued to rise. Container houses, due to their advantages such as low carbon emissions, short construction cycles, and reusability, are gradually becoming a new trend in vacation property development. Recently, our company successfully delivered a customized container house solution for a Spanish client. Our precise response to their needs, standardized quality control, and comprehensive cross-border services earned high praise from the client and provided a high-quality model for the application of container houses in the European market.
The Spanish client in this collaboration owns a private vacation estate of approximately 800 square meters outside Madrid. The estate includes a garden, swimming pool, and leisure terrace. They planned to build a living space that combines practicality and comfort for family and friends to use during vacations, while also matching the natural and comfortable overall style of the estate. Through three rounds of in-depth communication (including video conferences and on-site survey data synchronization), the client clearly articulated three core requirements, while also implicitly expressing expectations for "space utilization, aesthetic suitability, and ease of maintenance": Space Specifications: Based on the 37㎡ designated area for the resort and the daily living needs of 2-4 people, a single 20-foot container house is required as an independent living unit to maximize functionality within the limited space and avoid a cramped feeling. Functional Configuration: The space must include a complete living environment: one open kitchen (equipped with custom cabinets, basic appliance outlets, and reserved storage space for tableware), two separate bedrooms (ensuring privacy, with one bedroom flexibly convertible into a temporary reception area), and one bathroom (including washing and shower facilities, with proper waterproofing and drainage design). Air conditioning and a water heater are also required, adapting to the Spanish climate (hot and dry summers with temperatures reaching 40℃; mild and rainy winters with minimum temperatures around 5℃). Usage Scenarios: The overall space must be ready for immediate move-in. The standard is that no additional renovations are needed. The exterior should harmonize with the lush greenery of the estate, while the interior design should emphasize warmth and practicality, meeting the needs of a relaxed and comfortable vacation. A certain level of sound insulation is also desired to minimize external disturbances.
To address client needs and the specific building codes and climate characteristics of Spain, our company established a dedicated project team (comprising four modules: design, engineering, quality control, and cross-border services). From design planning and material selection to production, we adhered to the triple principles of "customization + standardization + localization" to ensure that our products not only meet the client's personalized needs but also comply with EU CE certification standards and local environmental requirements. Space Planning and Design: We adopted the "L-shaped functional zoning" concept to maximize the use of the limited space in the house—the "public functional area" accounts for 40%, with a custom L-shaped open kitchen cabinet, reserving space for appliances such as refrigerators, induction cookers, and microwaves. The countertop is made of stain-resistant and wear-resistant quartz stone, with three drawers and two storage cabinets underneath to meet the needs of tableware storage. The bathroom adjacent to the kitchen features a wet and dry separation design, installing a water-saving toilet and a thermostatic shower system, and equipped with a mirror cabinet and niche storage cabinets to reduce space occupation; the "private living area" accounts for a certain percentage. 60% of the space is divided into two independent bedrooms by lightweight soundproof partitions. The master bedroom is equipped with space for a 1.8m double bed, and the second bedroom is equipped with a 1.5m single bed. The walls can be finished with environmentally friendly beige or light gray wall panels, which are preferred by the client, and paired with natural wood flooring to create a warm and natural vacation atmosphere that echoes the environment of the manor. Core Facility Configuration: Designed for Spain's hot summers and mild, rainy winters, the system features a wall-mounted air conditioner (with EU energy efficiency rating A, supporting intelligent temperature control and timer functions) paired with an instant electric water heater (5.5kW, compatible with local 230V voltage standards) to ensure comfort throughout the year. For windows and doors, double-glazed Low-E glass windows with inward opening provide sound insulation, heat insulation, and natural light. The window frames are made of corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy with a light brown finish that harmonizes with the estate's environment. The roof is a pitched roof (15° slope) with waterproof membrane and insulation to prevent rainwater leakage and excessive heat in summer. Energy-efficient LED lighting and USB charging sockets are also included, enhancing convenience in the details. Material and process upgrades: The main frame of the container is made of Q355 high-strength light steel, which undergoes triple anti-corrosion treatment including rust removal, galvanizing, and painting, making it suitable for the windy climate in parts of Spain; all interior decoration materials are made of environmentally friendly boards and paints to ensure healthy living conditions; kitchen countertops, bathroom fixtures, etc., are all made of standard-compliant products to improve product durability; after each facility is installed, it undergoes multiple tests, including water supply, power supply, and sound insulation, to ensure there are no quality issues before delivery. Cross-border service guarantee: Considering the complexity of cross-border transportation, the project team developed a customized logistics solution – adopting a full container transport mode, where the customized houses are folded and secured as a whole inside the transport container, and wrapped with moisture-proof film and anti-collision panels to avoid bumps and moisture during transportation; handling all procedures such as certificates of origin and customs declaration in advance, coordinating with local customs clearance agents to ensure smooth customs clearance; arranging professional technicians to provide customers with remote guidance on assembly and debugging services (assembly cycle only 30 minutes), and providing customers with detailed user manuals and maintenance guides, including appliance operation, daily maintenance, troubleshooting of common problems, etc., and promising 24-hour remote technical support within a 1-year warranty period.
After 45 days of design, production, and cross-border transportation, the customized container house was successfully delivered to the customer and put into use. After three months of use, the client gave high praise via video feedback: "From the initial consultation to the final implementation, the entire team demonstrated a professional attitude and efficient execution. The design not only met all our functional needs but also cleverly utilized space design to solve the storage problems of a small house. The cabinet partitions and the wet and dry separation in the bathroom were very thoughtful. The air conditioning's cooling and heating effects exceeded expectations; the indoor temperature remains stable at around 25℃ in summer and is also very comfortable in winter. The double-glazed windows provide excellent sound insulation. The exterior design blends perfectly with our estate style; many friends who come for vacation mistake it for a specially built villa. Now, every time we come for vacation, we don't need to arrange accommodation in advance. This container house is like a 'mobile home,' convenient and comfortable, completely exceeding our expectations!" Furthermore, the client proactively shared photos of the living environment. The house, along with the surrounding greenery and swimming pool, complements the surroundings, becoming a unique feature of the estate. Two friends have subsequently inquired about customized services through the client's referral.
